If you’re wondering, ‘Why whisky?’ basically, here’s why:
1. WHY WHISKY?
✵ Whisky can take decades to make
✵ Whisky does not age after being bottled, meaning that it can last forever
✵ You don’t need to keep it in cellar-like conditions as you do with wine
✵ Whisky is seen as a luxury item and a symbol of sophistication
✵ Whisky production is extremely time-consuming, its supply has not yet been able to keep up with this new development
2. WHISKY AS AN INVESTMENT
✵ Great diversifier for investors portfolio
✵ There is an ongoing demand
✵ Scotch continues to dominate in the market for rare vintage whisky, but Japanese whisky is tailing closely behind, being its only serious competitor
3. THE MOST EXPENSIVE BOTTLE OF WHISKY EVER SOLD
On January 30: A bottle of 50-year-old Yamazaki became the most expensive bottle of Japanese whisky ever sold at auction, fetching a price of HK$2.3 million.
