Macey & Sons' November 2021 Auction Preview
It has certainly been a challenging year on all fronts, with new hurdles to overcome. COVID-19 was something that touched every industry across the market and with businesses in Hong Kong, Asia and the world have had to find new ways of adapting and – going digital (if you will).
This will be our first auction for two years and we couldn’t be more excited and proud primarily of our team, but also of our steadfast network of clients that have all come together to put on a great show.
In the past we have held exclusively art or bespoke whisky auctions, but this year, we have some incredible lots that allow our buyers to own part of history. Whether it be a newly restored 18th century Warwick vase that survived an estate’s fire, a Sterling silver Fabergé caviar cup that was treasured during Imperial Russia, a Port Ellen Vertical Collection of 17 whisky bottles from a whisky distillery that has been closed since the 1980s, a sketch from one of England’s greatest landscape painters John Constable of ‘The Thames in Oxfordshire’, a painting and accompanying letter from another landscape master J.M. William Turner of ‘The Castle at Tancarville’, an ink on paper artwork from 20th century Chinese master Zhang Daqian who was known as the ‘Picasso of the East’, alongside this we have “Falling Leaves” from one of the Founders of the Gutai Japanese art movement Imaï Toshimitsu, among many more items.
These are a few our highlight items, however, this sale is not only about monumental works, but also about giving great value in return. Here you will find many pieces from our mid-career Chinese contemporary artists, our British antique silver at competitive rates for you to enjoy at home with family. There is something for everyone and we would be delighted to welcome those in Hong Kong to join us on our Auction Preview Dates (15th – 17th November from 10am – 7pm) and to attend our auction on Friday 19th November from 7pm – 9pm.
We understand however that not many are able to travel, so we are really pleased to offer for the first time an integrated online bidding platform for our clients that have moved abroad or for people that are just getting to know us, to join our auction and take part in the bidding process.
