Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a capacitor for use in a thin film capacitor, which has a structure capable of achieving a relatively high capacitance even at a relatively small area. 2. Description of the Related Art In general, when a high capacitance is to be obtained at a small area, a structure as illustrated in FIG. 9 is used. In FIG. 9, a plurality of plate layers 21a and 21b are disposed so that two pairs of the plate layers 21a and 21b and 21a and 21b are alternately disposed. The upper and lower ends of the plate layers 21a and 21b are respectively connected to connection electrodes 22a and 22b to form capacitor portions. The connection electrodes 22a and 22b are respectively connected to a first terminal 23a and a second terminal 23b to form external terminals. However, even in the case where a plurality of plate layers 21a and 21b are used as illustrated in FIG. 9, it is possible to obtain only a capacitance of about 3500 pF. This capacitance is low as compared with an area in which a single plate layer is used. Therefore, it is difficult to apply the above-described capacitor to the electrode of a chip-type integrated circuit (IC) device and the like. In the above-described circumstances, it has been required to develop a capacitor structure that allows a relatively high capacitance to be obtained even at a relatively small area. It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a thin film capacitor that achieves a high capacitance even at a relatively small area. A thin film capacitor according to the present invention has a structure including a first substrate, a second substrate, a capacitor electrode layer, a dielectric layer, a counter electrode layer, and a connection electrode layer.
